Because Carter seemed to have plans for the Iran Hostage Crisis, many people had faith in him at the beginning. Although he was not the best president to begin with, this seemed like something that we would be able to handle. Iran and America both were not giving in to the demands which is why the crisis went on for such a long time. Operation Eagle Claw is one of the only well known attempts to retrieve the hostages which shows that Carter was not trying his hardest to get them back, even though he said that he was.
